Since 1998 the most colourful event in the world takes place in Carinthia, the wonderful south of Austria. The festival has a very long tradition and founded the modern bodypainting art movement.
Artists from more than 50 different nations will do their best to stun and entertain visitors at the 19th edition of the World Bodypainting Festival, the world championships for Bodypainters. High quality Art creates a special experience for all visitors of the Open Air art park "Bodypaint City" combined with music in 5 different zones.
The venue is situated on a peninsula in the middle of Pörtschach and framed picturesquely by the turquoise lake Wörthersee. Additionally this charming place offers a varied range of bars, cafés and restaurants, ideal possibilities for the WB Academy program and the side events.

„BODYPAINT-CITY“ 1 - 3 JULY 2016
On the main days of the festival (Friday 1st - Sunday 3rd July) the "Bodypaint City" turns into a unique and vivid Open Air art park. Daily from 11:00 am the visitors can look over the artists shoulders and until late at night uncountable art, music and show highlights take place.

The Bodypaint City stretches from the town center via the promenade to the peninsula and further integrates the public beach "Promenadenbad Pörtschach". The artists are working on the shore of the beautiful lake Wörthersee.

WORLD BODYPAINTING AWARDS, THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The core of the festival is the World Bodypainting Championships presented by Kryolan where the Crème de la Crème of artists from more than 50 different countries create stunning artworks in 6 World Champion categories, as well as Special and Amateur Awards.

FURTHER AWARDS FOR ARTISTS
Beside the main categories during the day, the "World UV Bodypainting Award" will be presented as a highlight on Friday evening. Under the use of fluorescent colours the models get glowing during their presentation under black light. Spectacular effects and stunning visitors are guaranteed. 13 well chosen artists tell their stories with colour, sound and dance. Further awards are Facepainting, Special effects Make-up and Creative Make-up.

INSTALLATION ART AWARD
This spectacular award offers a game with bodies, colour and surrounding. The elite of Bodypainters show their installations on different spots in Bodypaint City, to tell the visitors their special stories. At any time there is something fascinating to look at, to stun and to think of.
WBF - THE FUSION OF BODIES & BEATS
The World Bodypainting Festival defines itself as a full-time Open Air art park with attractions for the young and the old, therefore also the musical entertainment is an essential part.Different stages and areas of action with national, as well as international bands, street musicians and DJs are part of "Bodypaint.City".
Around the presentations of the finalized living canvases a high quality music program takes place from 11 am until after midnight. International bands, national newcomers, DJs, street artists, artistic groups and colorful show programs around the artform of Bodypainting will be presented.
The music highlights 2015 were: MADCON, Lost Frequencies, GENTLEMAN, MC Yankoo, Johann Sebastian Bass and 50 other international bands and DJ's.
On the Green Stage and along the lake side promenade many musicians and music groups can be watched and heared. National newcomers, as well as street artists and many more find there a platform to present their talent. Also in the public beach "Promenadenbad Pörtschach", our "beach fun zone" chill sounds will be played all day long.
Further zones for fans of electronic music are the Electronic pier hosted by ÖBB RAILax and new in 2016 "Techno am See", each with a great DJ Line-up.

Traditionally the last highlight on the Final day is after the big music-fireworks the legendary colourful AFTERSHOW Party.

WBF FASHION
Within an event, where the body is the artwork a connection to the topics of styling and fashion is clearly given. Runway Shows, Styling Corner and Beauty Make-up workshops and demonstrations take place during the main days.
Preselected Fashion designer get the possibility to show their collection on the runway.

BEACH FUN & WATER ACTION
The Bodypaint City is surrounded by a wonderful shiny lake, also known as Austrians riviera that invites you with its drinking water quality to jump in. The next WBF includes the access to the new zone! Again the historical public beach, the "Promenadenbad Pörtschach" will be part of the Festival, visitors are able to enter the public beach, they can swim, try different water sport action, rent a paddle or simply listen to the uplifting sounds, while having a coffee or cocktail. From the sunbathing lawn it is possible to watch artists working or even to get painted by professional artists.

LIFESTYLE MARKET, FOOD TRUCKS AND MANY MORE STUNNING THINGS
What would a festival be without the opportunity to grub and look. The body takes center stage and therefor also in 2016 there will be a big Lifestyle market in the north part of the Festival area, this Lifestyle market presents many handcrafted, creative and decorative things as well as fashion, jewellery, piercing, tattoo, wild style and accessories, simply everything to decorate the body.
Further the most renowned producer and seller of Bodypainting colour and equipment are on site and located in the south area of Bodypaint city. Bodypainter and all interested visitors can test products, compare and buy, for sure under professional guidance of the tradeshow exhibitors. Also the newest products in the area of Special effects and all equipments can be found there.
While the artists are working on their models, there are many things to see and explore. Action art, exhibitions, installations and many more are stretching all over our Open Air art park. While adults enjoy art and music, there are also many activities for kids. A facepainting tent, the YBody Glitter contest, a playground, workshops and much more make the visit in Bodypaint city to something special for the smallest of us.

Bodypainting is an ephemeral art and before it is simply washed away, it has to be captured. It has an intimate connection to photography and has influenced the development, within this discipline, of a whole new genre. Therefore the WBF main days 2016 offer photographers an amazing location, professional models, performers, a huge variety of backdrops and some of the best artists in the world, so they can capture that 'perfect' image.

To access the special photoshooting areas and gain many more advantages we offer a limited number of photo tickets to all hobby- and professional photographers with exclusive entrance to the closed Photo area with many possibilities and great places for shootings.
The best pictures can be send to your big photo award, so called "World Bodypainting PHOTO Award" and are then published in the photo catalog. There is also a special area right in front of the stage, to be able to create great pictures of the stage presentations and show highlights.

WB ACADEMY WORKSHOPS
The festival week starts on Monday, the 27th of June with the "WB Academy", which is the high professional education and training program for Bodypainter, Make-up artists, photographers and models (and for all those, who wish to become one). The best teachers in their fields share their knowledge and secrets in many different workshops and seminars.

Many classes for beginners, as well as advanced and professionals take place in and around Pörtschach, in the areas of classic bodypainting, airbrush, facepainting, special effects, beauty and fashion Make up, photography, digital art, modelling and much more.
With the great support of our sponsors as among others Kryolan, Senjo Color, Cameleon, Diamond FX or Mac Pro it is possible to keep the Academy affordable for everybody.
MEETING PLACES AND PARTY LOCATIONS
The lake Wörthersee is a hotspot for Party people in Austria and is well known for its great events and parties. Many Cafés, Bars, Lounges and entertainment facilities are just within a few meters. Every evening there are different Side events. Out of the last years Zombie Flashmob the official Zombie run will be created in 2016.
BODY CIRCUS
The party highlight during the festival week is indeed the traditional Body Circus - the bizarre club experience. Visitors in fantasy costumes, decorated with bodypainting, extreme make up or masks show up in a mystic surrounding. Shrill music acts, Djs, visuals and fantastic artists fascinate the visitors until the early morning.
